City of Rotterdam and FARI — AI for the Common Good Institute participated in the NWE Interreg Annual Event – Cooperating for lasting impact, a flagship event of the Interreg North-West Europe (NWE) Programme bringing together European projects, public authorities and regional stakeholders.
The event focused on project capitalisation, a key priority of Interreg NWE aimed at ensuring that project results generate long-term territorial impact across North-West Europe, beyond the lifetime of individual projects.
Taking project results one step further through capitalisation
During the plenary session “Taking results one step further”, speakers emphasised the role of Interreg NWE as a driver for scaling up innovative solutions and embedding them into regional and local policies. Capitalisation was presented as a strategic approach based on three core pillars:
Telling the project story: increasing visibility, communicating results effectively and supporting replication in other territories;
Building on success: enabling the further uptake of proven solutions beyond the original project scope;
Creating connections: strengthening cooperation and knowledge exchange between projects, regions and stakeholders within and beyond the NWE area.
These pillars aim to maximise the impact of EU-funded projects and support balanced territorial development across North-West Europe.

Creating lasting territorial impact in resilient and smart cities
The thematic networking sessions, particularly the one dedicated to developing resilient and smart cities, highlighted key challenges faced by urban areas in North-West Europe, including climate change, extreme weather events, energy poverty and social inequalities.
Discussions stressed the importance of:
embedding project results into local and regional practices,
strengthening urban resilience through cross-border cooperation,
fostering collaboration between public authorities, project partners and the academic community.
These topics closely align with the objectives of Multiroofs, which aims to support sustainable and resilient urban transformation through innovative and transferable solutions.
Posters Exhibition
In addition to the conference sessions, Multiroofs took part in the project poster exhibition, where the project’s core concept was presented through a fictional scenario illustrating the practical application of its solutions. The exhibition offered valuable opportunities to engage with other Interreg projects, programme representatives and territorial stakeholders, and to explore potential synergies and future cooperation.

Strengthening cooperation across North-West Europe
By participating in the NWE Interreg Annual Event, Multiroofs contributed to strategic discussions on capitalisation, scalability and transnational cooperation. The event also offered opportunities to explore new synergies with other Interreg NWE projects and to reflect on how project results can be extended to new regions, sectors and target groups.
This participation reinforces Multiroofs’ commitment to maximising the impact of its results and contributing to long-term, sustainable territorial change across North-West Europe.
